CITIZENS FOR CHANGE
The incident last month in Williams where a pit bull attacked, mauled and killed a poodle while the teenaged owner was walking it, on a leash, along the sidewalk was the catalyst to get people talking about the current state of the county ordinances. The owner of the pit bull said it had not attacked before therefore the dog cannot be deemed dangerous or vicious until it kills another animal or injures a person within a three year period according to the CA state law. Each county can create a stronger ordinance if the public demands it.
A small number of citizens want to discuss the possibility of strengthening the county ordinance in regards to this incident as well as addressing the issues of a stronger county leash law, kennel license, puppy mills, dangerous dogs and animal cruelty.
Is there an issue you would like to discuss? What bugs you about the current law, how do you want it to change? Send ideas to foccasanimals@gmail.com. A meeting will be scheduled at a later date when we hope to have a representative from the Sheriff's Dept. or Board of Supervisor attending.
Nows the time to speak up. We can make a difference.
